Wellness Wheel delivers an innovative culturally responsive individual, family, and community-driven model of care and research.
We answer the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s call to address gaps in Indigenous peoples health.
The poor treatment of Indigenous people in mainstream systems is the result of systemic, institutional, and individual racism.
Wellness Wheel's mandate is supported by engaging in three strategic directions that are the outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, Health Canada, and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health:
1. Restore Indigenous community-based wellness systems.
2. Establish a “middle ground” for engagement between mainstream and Indigenous systems and worldviews.
3. Transform mainstream service delivery to become culturally responsive.
